Curtains and Art!

Back in town this weekend, I had a little time to do some more work on the living room. The mat I had cut for my Paris poster was finished, so I picked it up and hung the map. I really like it, and the green of the mat is almost identical to the green in the poster!

I also picked out some curtain rods (about $10/rod) and hung a few panels that I bought at Walmart (2 panels for about $18). Unfortunately, my windows are fairly high up on the wall and given that I wanted the bottom of the tabs on the curtains to line up with the top of the window molding, they are waaaaay too short, as you can see in this photo:

I think what I'm going to do is pick out a pretty fabric and sew it to the bottom, to lengthen them and give them a nice custom look. I haven't decided what color to do yet, but I'm thinking about a green similar to the green on my poster.

As I said I would, I bought the blue knobs at Sugar Magnolia and put them on the vestibule table. However, I'm not sure I like them as much as I thought I would. I may buy some knobs from Anthropologie and see if I like those better. I'm sure I'll find a home for the blue ones at some point; I just don't think it's on the vestibule table.

While I was at Michael's picking up the mat for the Paris map, I also bought some 8 x 10 inch, white frames that were on clearance for $9.99 each. They came with mats, which also saved me money. Going in them? Some 8 x 10 prints of some photos I took in Spain, printed at Walgreens in black and white for about $16. I hung three of the five up before I ran out of picture hanging hooks.

Also, while at Michael's, I picked up some very cute baskets. All were 50% off, which made me very happy indeed! The larger one is nice and squishy and will eventually hold blankets, perfect for curling up on the sofa with. The two smaller ones sit on the lower portion of my coffee table and will hold...well, I don't know what yet, but I'm sure I'll find something to put in them. I seem to accumulate things fairly quickly!

And lastly, another photo of my dining room, which I just love! Not much has changed, but I think that the curtains really just give it a nice polished finish.
